It is the Bahubali Gommateshwara statue located at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka state (India), is one of the largest free-standing statues in the world. Its a 57 feet tall statue on a hill top and one has to go through 500 steps to visit the temple. A Mahamastakabhisheka (Grand Consecration/The Great Indian Festival) is held on a large scale once every 12 years, the next one being in 2030. This photograph was taken right after this festival where the workers are seen removing all temporary structure and the lord himself standing tall in the background. Experiencing the festival is once in lifetime however I equally enjoy the post festival time from a photography standpoint, as there are a lot of subjects and stories to capture.
