Voigtlander Brings Its Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical Lens to Leica M-Mount Camera Systems
Voigtlander has announced the release of its new Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical VM lens for Leica M-mount camera systems, the same lens, which uses an identical design (mount aside) from its Sony E-mount counterpart announced on May 2019.
Voigtlander Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical VM lens main features:
- Amazing large-aperture F1.4 for an ultra-wide-angle lens allows the depth of field to be reduced at full aperture. Useful for creative drawing utilizing bokeh.
- Demonstrates excellent imaging power from short distances to distant views with the floating mechanism. Distortion has been eliminated by adopting an aspherical lens, and chromatic aberration has been eliminated with an abnormal partial dispersion glass.
- Comes with a square bayonet-type hood that is highly light-shielding, stylish and easy to wear. We adopt design preventing interference with rangefinder ranging window.
- Focusing is possible up to 0.5m beyond the minimum shooting distance of 0.7m linked with the rangefinder. We show power at the time of shooting with cameras equipped with live view function.
- An all-metal helicoid unit that has been machined and adjusted with high precision, and high-quality grease that produces moderate torque, realizes a smooth operating feel. Enables fine focus adjustment.
- A VM mount is used for the lens mount. In addition to the Vessa series (excluding Bessa L and R), it can be used with cameras that use M mounts.
- A high-precision rangefinder interlocking mechanism enables severe focusing near the open aperture.
- Ample image circle for 35mm full size is secured. In addition, they realize very compact style compared with an interchangeable lens for single-lens reflex cameras.
The Voigtlander 21mm F1.4 Aspherical VM lens has a suggested retail price of ¥150,000 in Japan, which currently puts it at around $1,350, despite there being no official U.S. pricing at this time.
