Dell Unveils the World’s First Pro Monitor with 2K Mini-LED Direct Backlit Dimming Zones
Dell has unveiled a new 4K (3840 x 2160, 16:9) 31.5-inch UltraSharp HDR PremierColor display, features state-of-the-art technology, including mini-LED, built-in colorimeter, and low blue light reduction screens.
“Technology that helps us do our best work is critical as we adapt to the new hybrid work environment,” said Bert Park, senior vice president and general manager, Software & Peripherals Product Group, Dell Technologies. “Our monitors have always been the most desired companion to any PC, and our new line is no different. We’re helping customers push productivity to the edge while delivering great performance, style and comfort.”
Photographers rely on color-accurate displays to produce their creative masterpieces. The Dell UltraSharp 32 HDR PremierColor Monitor (UP3221Q) is the world’s first professional monitor with 2K mini-LED direct backlit dimming zones, where the individually controlled backlight zones on the monitor provide contrast with deep blacks and bright whites.
With the widest DCI-P3 color coverage in a professional monitor at 99.8%, 4K resolution, and VESA DisplayHDR 1000, the 32-inch UltraSharp enables precise and uniform color reproduction of film and video content. It is the world’s first 31.5-inch professional monitor with a built-in Calman Powered colorimeter, giving creators the flexibility of on-demand or scheduled calibration with or without the PC attached.
True 10 bit color with 1.07 billion color depth delivers amazingly smooth color gradients and minimizes color banding as compared to an 8-bit panel with 16.7 million colors.
The IPS display is VESA certified for DisplayHDR 1000, has a maximum brightness of 1,000 cd/m2, a 60Hz refresh rate, a claimed HDR contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and has a 178-degree viewing angle.
This performance-packed monitor incorporates several connectivity options, including two Thunderbolt 3 ports.
The upstream Thunderbolt 3 enables up to 90W of power delivery to the connected notebook while transferring video and data signals.
ThunderboltTM 3 delivers speeds of up to 40Gbps, creating one compact port that does it all—delivering the fastest and most versatile connection to any dock, display, or data peripheral.
A USB-A port at the front of the monitor lets you easily connect to external colorimeters or spectrophotometers.
The 31.5-inch UltraSharp HDR PremierColor display is set to go on sale November 5 for $5,000.
