Sirui Introduces the New Jupiter Full-Frame Cine Lens Line

Chinese lens manufacturer Sirui has introduced the Jupiter series of cinema lenses for full-frame sensors, starting with three fast primes and a 3x fixed aperture zoom lens.

This new line will comprise a 24mm T2 lens, a 35mm T2, and a 50mm T2 as well as a 28-85mm T3.2 zoom. The set of primes are designed with matching focus and iris ring positions for easy switching in a rig, and each will have a 92mm filter thread. Sirui claims these primes are all macro lenses with the closest focus distance of 24mm, and the focus breathing has been kept to a minimum. These lenses will be launched via an upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

Sirui claims that they feature high sharpness, minimal optical aberration, and excellent flare suppression. The Jupiter lenses are available in native PL/EF mount. E-mount and RF-mount adapters will also be available so it will be possible to use them on a wider range of cameras. All three lenses feature industry standard 0.8 pitch gears. The three lenses have different focus throws.

Sirui claims that the 28-85mm T3.2 produces sharp images. The lens features a parfocal design. The Jupiter 28-85mm T3.2 Full-Frame Cine Zoom features all-metal construction and it covers an image circle of up to 43mm. It also has a common 110mm filter thread, a lens support adapter, and a zoom lever. Just like the Jupiter Macro Cine primes, it is available in either PL or EF mount and there are also E-mount and RF-mount adapters you can purchase separately.

The 28-85mm T3.2 weighs 2.5 kg in PL mount, and it has a claimed minimum focusing distance of 70cm.

The lenses will be launched via an Indiegogo campaign on 9th May with shipping seemingly due to begin on the same day.
