Sony Introduces the Xperia 5 IV Flagship Smartphone
The Xperia 5 IV, the newest smartphone from Sony, has been unveiled. Like its predecessors, this model incorporates design cues from Sony’s more expensive Xperia devices into a more compact, cost-effective chassis.
“We are thrilled to introduce the new Xperia 5 IV as a continuation of our Xperia series. We are always listening to our customers to develop cutting-edge technology that meets their needs as creators, gamers, and music and video enthusiasts,” said Yang Cheng, Vice President, Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc. “The Xperia 5 IV is a powerful and compact tool that is perfect for anyone looking for the best technology in a small, sleek form factor.”
Some of Sony’s most recent imaging technologies, including Eye AF and Object Tracking on all rear-facing cameras, are included in the Xperia 5 IV. Thanks to the sensor’s high read-out speed of 120 fps, creators can now enable cinematic video capabilities on all three lenses, including 4K HDR and 120 fps super slow-motion recording to create a dramatic effect. Livestreaming is another feature of the Videography Pro application.
The front camera has a 12-megapixel sensor that Sony claims is bigger and enhanced, capable of 4K HDR video with excellent contrast, and allows for better selfie photography even in dimly lit or highly reflective environments.
The identical 12-megapixel type 1/2.5 sensor, previously used in point-and-shoot cameras, is utilized by all three back cameras, resulting in identically high-quality images regardless of the focal length. The 16mm f/2.2 AF lens is on the first camera, the 24mm f/1.7 AF OIS lens is on the second, and the 60mm f/2.4 AF OIS lens is on the third.
All three cameras have the Real-Time Eye-AF and Real-Time tracking capabilities of Sony, as well as the ability to shoot up to 20 frames per second in AF/AE burst and 120 frames per second of 4K video.
The Xperia 5 IV has a feature for an external monitor that is ideal for vloggers and other video artists. Creators can view their work on the 6.1″ FHD display of the Xperia 5 IV while connected to a mirrorless camera (like the Alpha series cameras). They can instantly share their creations via the new live-streaming feature. This set-up gives you even more creative freedom when used with Sony’s Vlog Monitor (XQZ-IV01, offered separately).
The creative idea for “People Pleaser” was captured using the high-quality imaging capabilities and manual setting options within the Videography Pro software, which was recently utilized to shoot a full music video for Sony Music artist, Cat Burns, bringing to life her most recent song. A music video director, Nathan James Tettey, said, “Creating material on the Xperia 5 IV allows you to use your imagination. Packing modern technology into a small, portable device allows common people to become filmmakers.
Cat Burns recorded an acapella of the chorus for the video using the Music Proiv app. Cat Burns, a Sony Music artist, said, “Being able to capture quality audio and upload it right away without needing to use a laptop is such a terrific function and saves time in my hectic schedule.
While producing the reverberation of a studio mix, Music Pro can replicate the frequency response of a condenser microphone. Sound editing and recording are both free of charge, however cloud processing for the best sound requires a monthly cost.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV is set to be available at the end of October 2022 for approximately $1000, according to Sony. In addition to the standard black colorway, an exclusive green version will be available exclusively through Sony’s online shop. Pre-orders begin today, September 1, at 11 am EDT.
