Cosina Adds Two Voigtlander Z-Mount Primes: 40mm f/1.2 and 35mm f/2
Cosina has officially announced that two additional Voigtlander prime lenses will be made available for Nikon Z-mount cameras. These lenses are the Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical and the Macro APO-Ultron D35mm f/2, bringing the total number of officially licensed lenses for this system to six.
40mm Nokton D F1.2
According to Cosina, the lens was created specifically for the Nikon Z-mount and is compatible with cameras with both full-frame and APS-C sensors. Its comparable focal length for cameras with cropped sensors is 60mm. The 40mm f/1.2 is outfitted with electronic contacts to enable communication with the camera body, just like earlier Cosina Voigtlander lenses built for Nikon cameras. This enables it to transfer EXIF data and utilize in-body image stabilization if it is available. Focus peaking is also supported by it.
Below are a few sample images captured with the lens by photographer Mokkun:
The Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical is a big aperture manual focus lens for Nikon full-frame Z-mount cameras, according to Cosina. The Z-mount version is built from eight elements in six groups, including two double-sided aspherical elements, just like the current variants. It has a 10-blade aperture diaphragm, an aperture range of F1.2 to F22, a 52mm front filter thread, and, although it isn’t explicitly stated, it is most likely going to have the same minimum focusing distance of 50cm (19.7″) as the other models.
APO-Ultron D 35mm F2 macro
According to its description, the Cosina Voigtlander Nokton D35mm f/1.2 is a small, basic macro lens for APS-C Nikon Z-mount cameras. Although it will function on a variety of Z-mount full-frame cameras as well, provided they are set to digitally crop and use the DX-format, the design was originally used for a Fujifilm X-mount lens and has been adopted to operate with Nikon Z-mount crop-sensor cameras.
Below are a few sample images captured with the lens by photographer Takashi Koike:
The optical architecture of this lens, which consists of nine elements in six groups, including three abnormal partial-dispersion glass elements, will be the same as that of its X-mount predecessor. The lens has a 49mm front filter thread, a 10-blade aperture diaphragm, an F2 to F22 aperture range, and a minimum focusing distance of 16.3cm (6.4″).
This lens contains an embedded chip and electrical contacts for sending EXIF data, just like the Nokton 40mm F1.2, and it will function with Nikon’s sensor-shift image stabilization on compatible cameras.
The Nokton 40mm D F1.2 Aspherical Lens and the Macro APO-Ultron D 35mm F2 Lens are scheduled for sale in October 2022 for a suggested retail price of $735 and $685, respectively.
