Insta360 X3 Firmware Update
The Insta360 X3 was released in September 2022 and features a larger 1/2′′ image sensor, a larger 2.29′′ touchscreen on the front of the camera, and the capacity to record 360° video in 5.7K, 8K 360° time-lapse, as well as 72MP still images. The new firmware can be downloaded directly from the Insta360 website for free.
Webcam Mode
The Webcam Mode may be the most useful improvement to the Insta 360 X3’s new software. X3 can now be used as a webcam for video chats, conferences, and other online meetings. It is possible to select between three various camera angles, including the front camera, the back camera, and a full 360-degree image divided in half horizontally on the screen. When the X3 camera is in webcam mode and linked to a computer, the screen of the X3 remains dark.
72MP PureShot Revitalized
Another upgrade has an impact on the quality of still photos. According to Insta360, the software has been enhanced for photographs with reduced noise and more vibrant colors. This improvement should be obvious, especially in low-light photography settings. The 72MP PureShot preview is only available in black and white on the camera, but it will be displayed in full color in the app or studio software after processing.
App to PC Reframing
Now you can transmit project files from the mobile application to the desktop software. ViewFinder in the app allows you to reframe 360-degree videos by moving your phone, and when you’re done, you can export the project to the Studio software on your computer. Because this workflow only works in one direction, you cannot transfer your project to your mobile file.
Whether you want to reframe your 360 films on your mobile device or in the Studio program is up to you. Some people may find it easier to physically move the phone and swipe the screen to reframe when using the ViewFinder feature. Following that, the Studio desktop software allows you to export at a greater resolution in 4K.
