Canon Unveils the PowerShot V10 Vlog Camera
The Canon PowerShot V10 is the company’s first product in its brand-new PowerShot V camera series, intended for consumer video production, live streaming, and vlogging. The “V” in the series stands for video communication. The PowerShot V series is essentially designed for content producers.
Canon focuses on mobile content producers who need greater quality and variety than their smartphones can provide but don’t want a difficult, interchangeable-lens camera. Canon hopes that the PowerShot V10 offers top-notch performance in a convenient, small package, making it simple for anyone, regardless of their level of expertise.
“There is no shortage of usage cases for the PowerShot V10 Vlog Camera. Traveling? The camera is super compact and includes a built-in stand, a port for a tripod, and a microphone. Live streaming for gaming? You can connect the vlogging camera to a Wi-Fi router and output video directly to YouTube or Facebook via the Camera Connect app. Haven’t you experienced a traditional DSLR or mirrorless camera before? Generally speaking, the V10 is a budget camera with a competitive $430 price. The PowerShot V10 won’t be able to compete on an equal footing with Canon’s more expensive EOS R-series interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras because of its features.
The PowerShot V10 Vlog Camera can capture Full HD or 4K UHD video at 60p or up to 30fps. A fixed lens incorporated inside the camera has an equivalent focal length of 19mm. Eight elements in seven groups, including three aspherical lenses, comprise the f/2.8 lens. It can focus up to 0.05 meters.
A 20.9-megapixel Type 1 image sensor is combined with a 19mm prime lens, albeit only 15.2 megapixels are used while taking still pictures. Due to the greater 16:9 aspect ratio used while shooting movies, the resolution drops to 13.1 megapixels. On still photography, the Canon PowerShot V10 only captures 8-bit JPEG files and does not record RAW photographs.
The camera can set focus manually or automatically using the two-inch touchscreen. One-Shot and Movie Servo autofocus modes are available for taking still photos and filming videos. According to Canon, the camera has Face Tracking and Specified Frame AF; however, the V10 lacks eye-detection AF. Furthermore, manual focus is not supported by the PowerShot V10.
The PowerShot V10 incorporates digital image stabilization, including a movie auto-level function for on-the-go content creation. A digital zoom of up to 3x is also available on the camera, although Movie Digital IS cannot be used in conjunction with it.
The PowerShot V10 has various tools for producers to fine-tune the camera’s settings because it is designed for users who may not wish to color grade or edit their video. 14 imaginative Movie Color filters new to the PowerShot V10 are available to users. You can utilize these when live streaming. The V10 also has Canon’s first Movie Auto ND Filter feature and color tone changes.
The camera has a distinct and small design. The V10 is 63.4 x 90 x 34.3 millimeters in size (width, height, and depth). The camera’s display can be used backward or forwards and swings out. Users don’t need a tripod with this camera because it also has a built-in fold-out kickstand, albeit it does include a tripod socket. The camera includes a huge record button on the front and a limited number of buttons for menu navigation and playback operations on the back.
The PowerShot V10’s built-in microphones may capture front or rear audio, and it also has a third microphone to help with background noise reduction. Users can live broadcast with the Canon Camera Connect app, and the camera has wireless connectivity. Through image.canon website, a brand-new cloud-based service where users may store their photographs and movies, content can be automatically uploaded.
The Canon PowerShot V10 will be available in June for $430.
