Zhong Yi Optics Unveils the 200mm f/4 Macro Lens
The long-rumored APO 200mm f/4 Macro 1X Lens from Zhong Yi Optics (ZY Optics) is now officially available for a variety of lens mounts, including Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, Leica L, and Fujifilm X. For many years, long macro lenses have been a favorite among photographers because of their generous working distance. Getting close to some common macro subjects, like insects, can be difficult, so having a wide working distance is advantageous.
The full-frame manual focus macro lens has a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:1 and can focus as closely as 0.48 meters, which qualifies it as a real macro lens. The lens comprises 11 elements divided into seven groups, including one extra-high transmission lens, three ED lenses, and three elements with extremely high indexes. The lens has a nine-bladed aperture diaphragm and manual aperture adjustment.
The lens’s apochromatic (APO) design combines many unique lenses to reduce chromatic aberration. According to Zhong Yi, the lens can be used as a telephoto lens in addition to close-up photography. According to Zhong Yi, the bokeh would be smooth, making it ideal for portrait photography.
A detachable tripod mount comes standard with the 200mm f/4 Macro lens. Including the mount, the lens weighs 1230 grams. The lens has a 67mm filter thread and measures 216 millimeters in length. Since it is internally focused, the focus distance modifications do not affect the lens’s length.
