Megadap has released the ETZ21 Pro, its third generation Sony E-mount lens to Nikon Z-mount camera autofocus adapter. It still has a remarkably tiny design, but it no longer has a USB connector. Instead, it can now be updated using the attached Nikon camera.

The ETZ21 Pro is built on the foundation set by the original ETZ21, an excellent adapter to significantly increase the number of lenses that can be used with a Nikon mirrorless camera by giving it seamless access to the complete sizable E-mount optical lineup. According to Megadap, the ETZ21 Pro has the same autofocus capability, functionality, and mechanical improvements to provide a more fluid and user-friendly experience.

Megadap changed how the adapter’s firmware is updated. The new ETZ21 Pro may be updated immediately through the Nikon camera, as opposed to the previous model, which required a USB cable to connect the adapter to a computer in order to get updates. The company doesn’t say if this is accomplished through the USB connection on the camera or a memory card.

As a result, the company was able to improve the design of the new adapter, and the connecting pads previously used for USB cable firmware updates have been eliminated. This makes the adapter, which was already extremely slim, even more streamlined and virtually invisible than the previous model.

Additionally, it has a newly designed lens release button that, according to Megadap, should make lens separation easier and more seamless. Owners of Tamron lenses, in particular, will discover that mechanical fittings are more suitable for those third-party lenses.
