TTArtisan Announces the 50mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens for Micro Four Thirds

TTArtisan has unveiled its small tilt lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras after the release of its 50mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens for Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Leica L, Nikon Z, and Sony E mounts last year. Given the manual-focus lens’s diversified mount compatibility, it’s no wonder it was intended to work with a wide range of sensor sizes. While the 50mm f/1.4 lens provides an equivalent focal length of 75mm on APS-C cameras like the Fujifilm X Series, it provides an equivalent focal length of 100mm on Micro Four Thirds cameras.

The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens was designed with photography and filmmaking in mind. The focus and aperture rings on the lens are designed to fit most focus followers, similar to purpose-built cinema lenses.

“The true magic of this lens lies in its tilt feature, allowing you to explore tilt photography like a seasoned pro. Craft unique perspectives, transform ordinary scenes into miniature worlds, and bring your vision to life with a touch of artistic flair. Whether you’re capturing soulful portraits, expansive landscapes, or intricate architecture, the 50mm f/1.4 tilt lens unlocks a realm of creative possibilities,” explains TTArtisan.

The lens comprises seven elements grouped into six groups, one of which has a high refractive index. TTArtisan guarantees outstanding image quality with decreased aberrations and distortion. The manual lens has a tight focus range of 50 cm. The lens will provide higher magnification on Micro Four Thirds cameras due to the two-times crop ratio. The aperture diaphragm on the lens is 12-bladed, accommodating 62mm front filters.

In addition to the focus and aperture rings, the lens has tilt settings that provide eight degrees of tilt and may be rotated 90 degrees. Photographers can obtain a “Lilliput” effect simply by spinning the lens, according to TTArtisan. This style, named after the little folk in Gulliver’s Travels, makes items in the frame appear much smaller and gives photographs a miniature toy aspect.

Of course, while the tilt and rotation allow for incredibly stylized images, photos look typical for a 50mm f/1.4 prime lens when the tilt function is disabled. The tilt feature gives photographers more control over the out-of-focus portion of their photographs, according to TTArtisan, making photos look more creative.

Although the tilt feature allows for “Lilliput” photographs with dramatic out-of-focus parts, it can also be used to achieve a greater depth of field, allowing for more crisp components in the frame. The PetaPixel guide to utilizing tilt-shift lenses for product photography delves into how tilt lenses give photographers greater control over perspective, distortion, and depth of focus.

The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens is available from Pergear for $199 in all its mount options.
