7Artisans Unveils the 14mm T2.9 Spectrum Full-Frame Cinema Lens
7artisans has announced the release of a new 14mm T2.9 cinema lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is the broadest of the four prime lenses in 7artisans’ “Spectrum” cine lens line.
The 14mm T2.9 is available for Sony E, L, Canon RF, and Nikon Z-mount cameras and features extensive manual aperture and focus adjustments, including a 270-degree focus throw and de-clicked aperture control ring. The lens was designed with cinema in mind, and it promises minimum focus breathing and compatibility with a wide range of follow-focus devices and movie gear setups.
The 14mm T2.9 lens is comprised of 13 elements organized into nine groups, including two aspherical elements, three extra-low dispersion glass pieces, and five high refractive index elements. The lens has a 114-degree field of view on a full-frame camera. The 14mm T2.9, unlike several ultra-wide lenses, accepts filters (82mm).
The lens features a metal barrel and a focusing range of 0.4 meters to infinity. Although the exact weight varies depending on the lens mount, 7artisans advertises the lens at 660 grams, making it the lightest Spectrum cine lens yet, albeit by only roughly 15 grams.
The 14mm T2.9 Spectrum lens has the most glass elements when compared to the other Spectrum lenses. The 35mm and 85mm T2.0 primes each have nine elements, whereas the 50mm T2.0 has only six. In terms of aperture diaphragm, the 14mm lens shares a 10-bladed rounded aperture diaphragm with the 35mm and 85mm lenses, while the 50mm focal length features a 12-bladed aperture opening.
The 14mm T2.9 is not 7artisans’ only recent ultra-wide lens release. Only two months ago, the company announced a 9mm f/5.6 lens for full-frame cameras, a surprisingly wide lens for landscape and architecture photography.
The 7artisans 14mm T2.9 Spectrum full-frame cinema lens is now available for $459 direct from 7artisans. The lens can be purchased with a variety of 82mm filters, such as black mist, circular polarizing, and neutral density filters, raising the price to up to $518 depending on the filter chosen.
