OWC introduced their USB4 CFexpress 4.0 Type B card reader at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Yokohama, Japan. The OWC Atlas USB4 CFexpress 4.0 Type B card reader claims much better real-world data transfer speeds than traditional USB-C (10 Gb/s) card readers, particularly when used with OWC Atlas CFA 4.0 memory cards.

Although cameras must be equipped to fully support the current CFexpress 4.0 standard, users can still achieve much faster data transmission speeds with the latest cards and card readers.

OWC claims that the compact form of its new Atlas USB4 card reader makes it an excellent travel companion for content creators, fitting seamlessly into any camera bag. The reader has an aluminum shell and a new heat sink to prevent thermal throttling.

It also includes a “Innergize” switch, which gives customers with USB 3.2 devices a 30% performance gain when used with OWC’s Innergize software, compared to prior generations of USB 3.2 products.
