Samsung is now releasing new versions of its EVO series, claiming that the enhanced microSD cards provide faster transfer speeds and more storage for data.

Samsung’s update includes enhancements to the EVO Select and EVO Plus microSD cards, with one of the most significant improvements being quicker speeds. The business boasts a 23% boost in transfer speeds between the two variants over their predecessors. The Samsung EVO Select and EVO Plus microSD cards boast transfer rates of up to 160 MB/s.

The new cards have Grade 3 (U3) Speed Grade, making them compatible with higher-resolution devices including those that record 4K video. They also have a video speed class rating of V30, which allows cameras to write video to the cards at a rate that will never drop below 30 MB/s. EVO cards with a capacity more than 128GB enable an application performance rating of A2, allowing apps to be installed and used on both the card and a mobile device. They are compatible with all Android smartphones, tablets, laptops, and portable gaming consoles.

“With the mobile and handheld gaming market on the rise, we sought to make data transfers on those devices even faster with these updated EVO Select and EVO Plus lines,” stated Jose Hernandez, Senior Director of Memory Product Marketing at Samsung.

These microSD cards, like previous versions of Samsung’s memory cards, are designed for both performance and endurance. They can withstand water, severe temperatures, x-rays, wear and tear, drops, and magnetic impact, guaranteeing that your data is always protected. Furthermore, they come with a 10-year limited warranty, which provides peace of mind and security.

In addition to improved speeds, Samsung has announced that memory cards with 1TB capacities will be available in the EVO Select microSD and PRO Plus microSD lines. Samsung claims the 1TB versions will not be available until later this year, but it did not disclose any other information.

However, the speedier cards are currently available for pre-order. The EVO Select microSD is available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities, priced at $14.99, $18.99, $29.99, and $55.99 correspondingly. The EVO Plus cards come in the same capacities: $15.99 for 64GB, $20.99 for 128GB, $31.99 for 256GB, and $60.99 for 512GB.
