Viltrox 56mm f/1.7 Compact Prime Lens for APS-C Mirrorless Cameras
Viltrox, a Chinese lens manufacturer known for its remarkable and affordable lenses, has introduced the 56mm f/1.7 compact prime for APS-C mirrorless cameras.
The autofocus lens for Fujifilm X Series and APS-C Nikon Z mirrorless cameras contains 11 elements divided into nine groups, including four ED lenses and three pieces of high-refractive-index glass.
Viltrox claims its STM focus motor will provide fast, accurate, and silent autofocus performance. The lens can focus as close as 0.55 meters for a maximum magnification of 0.11x. It is internally focused, which means that its length does not alter with the focus distance.
In terms of size, the lens is relatively compact for its focal length and aperture combination. The lens measures 54.7 millimeters long and features a 52mm filter thread. The weight varies significantly depending on the lens mount, with the X-mount version weighing 171 grams and the Z version weighing 187 grams.
Viltrox’s new prime lens is compatible with mirrorless cameras’ specific autofocus features, such as face and eye detection. The bayonet also has a USB-C connector, allowing users to simply upgrade the lens firmware. Other advantages include reduced focus breathing for video, low optical distortion, and the promised creamy bokeh.
The Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.7 lens is now available for $139.
