Sigma Announces the 28-45mm T2.0 AF Cine Lens
Sigma announced in early August that it would be releasing a cinema version of its 28-45mm f/1.8 Art lens, the company’s first autofocus cinema lens.
The Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 Art has evolved into the Sigma 28-45mm T2.0 AF Cine Zoom lens, equipped with HLA-type autofocus. Sigma designed the lens with a focus ring with distance indicators and a click-free aperture ring for smooth adjustments, making it ideal for movie applications. It also made the lens suitable for 95mm matte boxes. The focus ring rotates 200 degrees, while the zoom ring rotates 60 degrees between 28mm and 45mm.
The L-Mount version measures 152 millimeters long and weighs 1,250 grams. The E-mount variant is somewhat longer (155 mm) and weighs the same as the L-mount version.
The most major modifications are to the design, which must accommodate cinema camera operators, many of whom use rigs and follow-focus gear.
