Insta360 Unveils the Link 2 and Link 2C AI-Powered 4K Webcams

Insta360 introduced the Link 2 and Link 2C, two AI-powered 4K webcams intended for video conferencing and live streaming. This comes after the business unveiled the Insta360 Connect, a dual 4K webcam, earlier this summer.

“Link 2 and Link 2C represent our ongoing commitment to making virtual connections more engaging and seamless. We’ve listened to user feedback and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in a webcam, combining premium 4K imaging, crystal-clear audio, and intuitive AI-powered features. Link 2 and Link 2C empower you to present your best self online, no matter where you are,” says JK Liu, Founder of Insta360.

The Link 2 and 2C have numerous similarities, including the same Type 1/2 image sensor, 4K/30p video recording, and AI-powered depth of field technology, which Insta360 says achieves a DSLR-like depth of field. The cameras guarantee good video quality even in low-light conditions, and they feature high dynamic range technology to balance shadow and highlight areas. They also employ artificial intelligence (AI) to improve image quality and eliminate visual noise.

AI also has a role in autofocus. The cameras use phase-detect focusing systems and use AI Tracking and Auto Framing to keep the subject in frame. When presenting group presentations, use the Group Tracking option to maintain numerous persons balanced within the frame. Users can also control the device with basic hand motions.

AI also manages audio-related noise. Insta360 offers best-in-class audio using built-in microphones that interact with machine learning algorithms to minimize unwanted noise. The webcams have three distinct profiles for various environments: Voice Focus, Voice Suppression, and Music Balance.

The two Link 2-series cameras have different levels of steadiness. While the primary imaging functionality is the same between the two models, the Link 2 has a built-in two-axis gimbal for smoother, more stable filming and dynamic racking. The Link 2C eliminates the gimbal and is thus more compact. The Link 2 weighs 101.5 grams without the supplied magnetic mount, whereas the 2C weighs 46.5 grams.

Both cameras provide a wide range of extra modes and functions, such as uncropped 4K vertical video recording, remote smartphone control, background replacement and switching, a DeskView mode for overhead presentations, AI-powered skin smoothing, and a privacy setting.

The Insta360 Link 2 and Link 2C webcams are currently available for $199 and $149, respectively. They are compatible with all major conferencing and streaming apps.
