Espresso Displays Unveils a New Budget-Friendly 15-inch Screen

Espresso Displays, an Australian firm, is releasing a new 15-inch portable monitor as well as a revised stand that will fit with its existing models.

The two new devices function together, but the company also sees them as standalone things that creatives and working professionals may use in a variety of ways. For starters, the new 15-inch Espresso Display 15 is identical to the previous Display Touch 15, which differs primarily by its capacitive touchscreen. This new one weighs two pounds and is only 5.3 millimeters thin.

By choosing non-touch, the corporation can reduce the price to $299, down from $549 for the Touch variant. This new edition, like its predecessor, features an aluminum chassis and an LCD panel with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080. Furthermore, it covers 99% of the sRGB color space and at least 80% of Adobe RGB color, making it a solid supplement to any photo or video editing process. The peak brightness of 300 nits is also common, albeit it is not suitable for use as a primary screen.

It retains the same two USB-C connections and maintains Apple-style it just works connectivity. Made to play along with Macs, the Display 15 should also work well with Windows PCs. The magnet on the back allows for mounting on one of the company’s own stands.

For the launch, Espresso Display is including its new Stand+. This is a variant of the existing Espresso Stand, but with extra viewing choices. The magnet is just as strong and extends higher, allowing you to position the Display 15 above a laptop screen, for example.

The goal is to increase ergonomics and productivity by providing angles that seem more natural to users. You can still position it to the side or even vertically, but increasing elevation should no longer necessitate finding another item to push it up.

The Stand+ is backward compatible with all existing Espresso Display monitors, including the Display 17 Pro, allowing individuals who currently own a Espresoo Displays product to purchase one separately for $100.

In addition to the new hardware, Espresso Displays is introducing a new software feature known as “Glide.” Glide, designed as an add-on to Espresso Flow, aims to make it easier to set up the screen each time by automatically orienting based on its physical location. Whether it’s to the left, right, above, or below the laptop screen, users just move their mouse to the side of the screen that corresponds to the monitor’s direction. Once completed, Glide establishes the display configuration, eliminating the need to access the laptop settings first.

The Display 15 is available for $299 today, combined with the Stand+, and will begin arriving globally in late November 2024.
