Cosina Unveils a Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5 Lens for Sony E-mount
Cosina has introduced a new Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5 prime lens for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The quick manual prime lens boasts exceptional optical performance and great close-up capabilities, making it suitable for landscape, street, travel, and portraiture photography.
The lens has ten elements grouped into eight groups. Two of them are aspherical, totaling four aspherical surfaces. There are also two anomalous partial dispersion lens elements. Cosina claims that the lens provides excellent resolution over the entire image area on full-frame cameras and that color changes are “well controlled.” The lens contains a 12-bladed circular aperture diaphragm that renders out-of-focus elements as “soft round bokeh rather than polygonal shapes.”
The manual-focus lens features a full-metal helicoid unit that has been treated and calibrated to ensure exceptional precision. Its high-quality lubricant promises “appropriate torque,” providing smooth focusing performance. The lens’s minimum focusing distance is only 0.28 meters, resulting in a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1.5, approaching the full-blown macro territory.
The lens is only 55 millimeters long and weighs 320 grams. The lens accommodates 49mm filters.
Despite being a totally manual lens, the Nokton 28mm f/1.5 features electrical contacts and sends full EXIF data to the camera. It also works with Sony’s built-in lens adjustments. The lens comes with a finish-matched lens hood.
