Thypoch is Expanding Its Simera-C T1.5 Lens Series to M-Mount
Following the October launch of the Simera-C T1.5 series of cinema lenses for Sony E-mount, Thypoch has announced that the 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm lenses will also be available in Leica M-mount.
“M-mount cine lenses are as adaptable as PL-mount lenses, fitting practically all mirrorless cameras with adapters (E, RF, Z, L, X mounts). “They could also be mounted (positive lock) on the ARRI Alexa camera and Sony Venice system using a third-party M mount kit,” the business states. “They ensure seamless integration from mirrorless video cameras to high-end cinema setups like DJI Ronin 4D, Sony Venice, Alexa 35, Alexa mini LF, Alexa mini and Amira.”
The Simera-C lenses were created in partnership with DZOFilm and are touted as high-quality, manual-focus lenses intended for cinema use. Each lens is made entirely of metal yet promises to be compact and lightweight, weighing between 380 and 450 grams. Because of their compact size, they may be mounted on a gimbal, drone, or held in one hand. The lenses are weather-sealed for dust and splash protection, according to the firm (there is no official IP classification), and the lens series has a consistent alignment of focus and aperture gears, making it easy to swap them out on set without having to reset the surrounding equipment.
The lenses also have a 16-blade aperture, which is exceptionally large and should result in a dramatically circular background defocus. Thypoch adds that the Simera-C series’ floating element design allows for a shorter minimum focusing distance than most modified cine-mod rangefinder lenses, resulting in nearly similar quality at close focus and infinity, as well as better texture and detail in close-ups.
Thypoch is offering the M-mount series of Simera-C T1.5 lenses for $959 each or $4,319 for a bundle of five. This is a tiny increase above the price of the E-mount models, which are $879 each or $4,048 for the five lens package.
