Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5 Is Coming to Nikon Z-Mount
Cosina has announced that the Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5 lens, which was introduced for Sony E-mount in December, will now be available for Nikon Z-mount. The E-Mount version will be available this month, while the Z-mount version will be ready in February.
The lens’ basic design is identical to that announced for Sony E-mount. The full-frame lens has ten elements organized into eight groups, including two aspherical elements for a total of four aspherical surfaces and a pair of abnormal partial dispersion glass elements. This optical design aims to deliver a combination of excellent resolution and well-controlled color shifts and aberrations.
It offers an aperture range of f/1.5 to f/16 via a 12-bladed diaphragm, which Cosina claims makes the opening as round as possible, resulting in round out-of-focus areas rather than polygonal. The external stepping ring allows you to manually adjust the aperture. Because this is a stills-focused optic, the aperture ring cannot be declicked.
The Nokton 28mm f/1.5 Aspherical lens, like most Voigtlander optics, is manual-focus only, however it does interact electronically with the attached Nikon Z-mount camera. According to Cosina, these electronic contacts enable the camera to record EXIF information, work in tandem with any in-body image stabilization (if equipped), are compatible with the most recent firmware, and allow it to focus using peaking, the enlargement button, and the color-changing of the focus point frame. The lens can focus as close as 28 cm.
Cosina expects to release the Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5 Aspherical in February 2025, however international availability will likely be later and vary by location. Additionally, Cosina did not disclose pricing at the time of publishing.
