Viltrox New Raze Autofocus Lenses Comes in DL-Mount
Viltrox, known for its high-quality yet affordable lenses, has released new Raze autofocus lenses in DL-mount for the full-frame DJI Ronin 4D. The whole set contains focal lengths of 16, 24, 28, 35, 50, and 85mm, each with a huge f/1.8 aperture.
Each lens completely covers the Ronin 4D’s full-frame sensor. Furthermore, each lens has a triple optical structure, consisting of an ED low dispersion element, a high refractive element, and an aspherical element. These optics, when combined with multi-layer coatings at the nanoscale level, attempt to solve chromatic aberration, distortion, edge aberrations, ghosting, and flare. Viltrox guarantees that the image quality will be sharp from center to corner, resulting in rich detail and true color.
The front element of the lenses is waterproof and anti-smudge coated. Each lens’ mount is a precision-engineered brass plate that locks securely to the camera body. The mount of the Raze prime lenses has a USB Type-C connector for future software updates. Its position in the mount protects it from environmental elements while maintaining a streamlined exterior.
The Raze lenses are lightweight, weighing between 316 and 473 grams. According to Viltrox, the lenses can be mounted on a gimbal without counterweights, delivering a glide-like shooting experience akin to a slider.
The lenses’ smooth and basic aesthetics aim to easily adapt to the DJI Ronin 4D’s native DL-mount for a zero-gap structural design. The tight mount protocol is designed to transmit electronic contact signals losslessly while being fully synchronized with the gimbal’s stabilization algorithm.
An intriguing characteristic is the absence of the necessity for an external focusing device. Instead, Viltrox has fully supported the DL mount protocol by integrating its lenses with the DJI Ronin 4D’s LiDAR focusing technology, resulting in seamless and precise subject tracking.
An STM silent motor powers the autofocus, ensuring ultra-smooth and whisper-quiet focusing with minimum focus breathing, which is critical for cinema applications.
The Viltrox Raze AF full-frame prime lenses for the DJI Ronin 4D are now available. The lens set is currently on sale for $3,514.05, but it will eventually cost $3,700. Currently, the new Viltrox Raze AF lenses are not available for purchase individually.
