Fujifilm Presents New Instax Mini 41 Instant Camera
Fujifilm has unveiled the Instax Mini 41, an update to the popular Instax Mini 40, which introduces several design and functionality improvements. According to Bing Liem, president of Fujifilm North America’s Imaging Division, “Mini 41 is made for image makers who care about both form and function,” and it “takes everything our consumers loved about mini 40 and levels up with enhanced performance and a modern design update.”
Instax Mini 41 camera’s body measures 12,1 cm by 10,1 cm by 6 cm and weighs 0.42 kg with batteries and film.
Compared to its predecessor, the new model features a refreshed look, departing from the faux leather of the previous version in favour of a textured body.
The camera features a user-friendly automatic exposure function, which adjusts the shutter speed and flash output based on ambient light conditions.
The Instax Mini 41’s lens is a 60mm f/12.7 optical plastic lens with two focus zones: one for close-up shots at 0.3m and another for subjects further away. Compared to the Instax Mini 40, the new camera’s close-up capabilities have been enhanced with the addition of parallax correction, improving the accuracy of close-up shots, including selfies, by adjusting the focus marker for better centring.
The camera also includes an optical viewfinder and a selfie mirror to aid in framing. The simple one-button operation, along with a three-stage focus ring, makes it easy to use, though it may not satisfy more advanced users who seek more control over settings like exposure and flash.
The Instax Mini 41 is compatible with a variety of Fujifilm Instax Mini film types, including traditional white and black frames, as well as specialty options such as films with colourful borders and monochrome designs. Film costs approximately $16 for a pack of 20 exposures.
The Instax Mini 41 will be available for purchase by the end of April, though Fujifilm has not yet disclosed pricing for the U.S. market.
