About me
Daniela Calò lives in Rome and has a sharp sense of exaggeration and grotesque. Her smartphone shoots are not academic and might not be exactly polite, but, as possible, they avoid factiousness, easy mocking or pietistic sweetening. At the same time, they seem to preserve a deep and bitter smile through an attentive gaze that is always ready to catch and record those moments of life that are all too easily cataloged as normal. Unlike what might appear at a first glance, every photo she takes, no matter of who or what, is an intimate caress and we are invited to directly experience a free and irreverent account of the complexity of a lifeful society with many contradictions and, perhaps, also sneeringly and intimately sick.
