About me
Emanuele D'Ancona is a photographer and set designer born in Chieti, class of '92. He graduated in
theater design from the IUAV University of Venice and has been working in the theater and film
industry for years. In the theater, he designed the sets for the opera "Betly" by G. Donizetti, directed
by Stefano Monti on the occasion of the Swiss National Gift Centenary in 2019 in Zurich, and
"L'Ultima notte di Bonfiglio Liborio" by Davide Cavuti, based on the Premio Campiello novel by Remo
Rapino, for the 2022 theater season at the Teatro Marrucino in Chieti. In the same year, in cinema,
he worked on the set design for the documentary film "Oltre il confine," presented at the Venice
Film Festival, directed by Davide Cavuti.
As a photographer, he exhibited his photographic projects at the Imagoars Gallery in Venice in 2018,
at the Locanda del Poeta in Collalto Sabino in 2021, and at the Gianni di Venanzo International Prize
2022 in Teramo, as part of the "Le Emozioni Fotografiche" contest, winning the first prize for the
best black and white photo. His reportage photographs are featured in two academic catalogs by
researcher Lia Wei, titled "Lithic Impression: from stone to ink on paper" (2018) and "Lithic
Impression II" (2019). In 2023, he participated in the Fotografia Europea Off in Reggio Emilia with the
project "En -Camino" and presented the eponymous photographic book at the Salone Internazionale
del Libro in Turin.
