About me
My photography is influenced by my life long interest and studies in history and culture, architecture and nature. I took up photography in my 30's when in 1990, after my wife's uncle gifted me his Olympus OM-2. Then later used the Canon EOS 100. I had images used in corporate publications and in museum exhibits. High points include Honorable Mention in the 1996 Canon Asia Pacific and the 1998 Alliance Francaise Photography contests. When the digital revolution arrived, I was not happy how the technology was developing and together with health concerns, took a 10 year hiatus from photography. When the mirror-less interchangeable lens camera designs finally arrived, I realised I can again use the older lenses I loved - bridging the old and the new. I was sold on using mirrorless interchangable lens digital cameras with legacy lenses. I am using the Samsung NX mirrorless digital cameras (NX100 & NX5) with legacy film camera lenses in different mounts. My favourite lenses are the Vivitar 70-150mm f3.8 zoom lens (Kino version), Tamron 90mm f2.5 macro (52B model), Olympus 50mm f3.5 macro, Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f2,8 (zebra version) and the Tokina 500mm Catadioptric. Recently, I started using Auto Reflecta 55 mm f1.8 and f1.7, Opteka 7mm f3.5 fish-eye, Makinon 135/f2.8 close focus and Vivitar (Cosina) 24mm f2.8 lenses.
My main interest is my adopted city - Manchester, and living in the United Kingdom.
