About me

I’m Sicilian, I was born in Agrigento in 1981. I started cultivating my passion for photography during the high school years. I deepened the knowledge enrolling at the European Institute of Design in Milan, where I attended the three-year photography course from 2000 to 2004. During the discussion of the thesis I exhibited "Husky", an installation composed of photographs and videos, a project that brings to mind the landing of the Allies in Licata during the Second World War. In 2004 I participated in a collective photography exhibition called "Universi Paralleli", where I exhibited "Comici Spaventati Guerrieri", portraits of elderly people photographed in Campobello di Licata, inspired by the reading of Stefano Benni's novel. The exhibition took place at the library district of Dergano-Bovisa (MI) and the Municipality of Bollate. In 2015 I presented "Hydra" at the LibertyQuadro in Campobello di Licata (AG), photographs taken in Cala Paradiso, Licata; the project represents a reflection on the Mediterranean Sea, seen today more as a border than as a union between different civilizations. In 2021 I also exhibited at the LibertyQuadro "Il Trittico del Silenzio", three photographs, shots from April 2018: "Barca" on the island of Favignana, "Garcitella" in Campobello di Licata and "Salina" in Marsala. Enlargements on satin photographic paper joined in triptych, cm. 170x70, mounted on forex support. The artist Silvio Benedetto wrote on the triptych for the exhibition catalog. In September 2021 I exhibited part of the "Cuba" project at the "Fondo Malerba per la Fotografia" in a collective exhibition entitled "Summer Show"; so I became part of the archive of the "archiviofmf.it" Fund. A few months later the same selection was published in the fourth volume of "Shots to tell" edited by Mainland Edition. What are my main interests? I like to travel and tell my experiences through reportage, while always maintaining the design aspect of my work. For this reason I often compare myself with different styles of photography.
