About me
Motoko Shimizu was born in Kawasaki, Japan and educated as a classical music singer. In 1995, she came to New York to pursue a career as a rock singer. She graduated BFA in music at City College of New York and has actively performed in numerous venues in New York and all over the U.S..
In the past five years, she took a great interest in street photography and has been taking street photos of New York , Milan, Turkey, Switzerland, China, Greece, Vienna and Tokyo. She attended a class in International Center of Photography in Fall 2015. She was featured as an avid Instagrammer in the September 22, 2017 issue of “NY Japion”, a weekly Japanese paper based in New York. Most recently, her photo from Kompong Phluk Floating Village in Cambodia was selected for the Chania International Photo Festival from August 28 to September 5, 2018.
