7Artisans Unveils an Entirely Redesigned 35mm f/1.4 Mark III Lens

Chinese lens manufacturer 7Artisans has unveiled a completely redesigned 35mm f/1.4 Mark III lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras.

The lens has been updated to include low-dispersion glass components. Like its predecessor, the new 35mm f/1.4 III has seven lens elements divided into five groups. It now includes an ED element, which improves image quality.

According to the company, the lens is ideal for portraits, particularly in low light, street, travel, and landscape photography.

Another major feature is the ability to switch between a clicking and smooth aperture control ring.

“This versatility makes it ideal for photographers and videographers who demand flexibility and precision in their work,” 7Artisans writes. The aperture diaphragm contains ten blades.

According to 7Artisans, the lens mount is chrome-plated metal, which “guarantees durability and beauty.” The markings on the lens’ all-metal barrel are laser etched. The lens weighs around 274 grams (9.7 ounces), with slight variations depending on the lens mount. The 7Artisans 35mm f/1.4 III lens is a manual-focus prime. The minimum focus distance is 0.3 meters.

The new Mark III lens is currently available for $189 direct from 7Artisans. The 35mm f/1.4 III comes with four mounts: E, L, RF, and Z. The L-mount version is a new addition, replacing the Micro Four Thirds option for the 35mm f/1.4 Mark II.
