7Artisans Unveils 50mm f/1.4 Tilt-Shift Lens
7Artisans has released an interesting new prime lens, a tilt-shift 50mm f/1.4 for mirrorless cameras with E, X, and Micro Four Thirds mounts. It has a 50mm focal length on a full-frame camera, but is equal to 75mm and 100mm on Fujifilm X and Micro Four Thirds cameras.
Regarding the lens itself, 7Artisans’ marketing focuses primarily on producing extremely narrow depth-of-field photographs with “miniature” effects, a feature unique to tilt-shift lenses. However, tilt lenses can also go the other way and capture photographs and films with a wide depth of field. Tilt-shift lenses can also assist maintain straight lines straight, even when directed up or down, hence they are a popular choice among architectural photographers.
The new 7Artisans lens has seven lens elements organized into six groups. It has a 12-blade aperture diaphragm and weighs 364 g. It is a manual focus lens, and the aperture can be changed manually using a special aperture control ring.
The 7Artisans 50mm f/1.4 Tilt lens is currently available for Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. The lens costs $226.
