AstrHori XH-2 Is a Compact and Affordable Light Meter
AstrHori has introduced a new version of its compact and affordable light meter, the XH-2, which builds on the success of its predecessor, the AH-M1. This updated model boasts a more ergonomic design, enhanced functionality, and improved accuracy, making it a valuable tool for both amateur and professional photographers.
The AstrHori XH-2 light meter features a redesigned, rounder shape and a longer form factor, providing better handling and usability. It includes a 0.66-inch OLED display that shows real-time exposure parameters such as exposure value, exposure compensation, aperture value, shutter speed, ISO, and battery level. This ensures photographers can quickly and accurately measure light conditions and make necessary adjustments on the fly.
One of the standout features of the XH-2 is its anti-reflective metering hole, which helps improve the accuracy of light measurements. The device is equipped with a cold shoe mount and a USB Type-C port for charging, allowing for quick recharges in about 30 minutes. This makes the XH-2 a practical choice for photographers who need a reliable and portable light meter.
The XH-2 supports a wide range of settings, with shutter speeds ranging from 1 second to 1/8,000s, aperture values from f/1 to f/32, and ISO sensitivity from 5 to 6,400. These settings can be easily adjusted using the main button and adjustment dial, which provide intuitive control over the device’s functions.
Weighing just 63 grams and constructed primarily from brass, the XH-2 is both lightweight and durable. It is available in black and silver color options, ensuring it complements a variety of camera styles. The light meter is currently available for purchase at $79, making it an affordable option for photographers looking to enhance their exposure control.
With the resurgence of film photography, the AstrHori XH-2 arrives at a perfect time, offering an updated, precise, and user-friendly solution for light metering. This new model is expected to gain popularity among film enthusiasts and professionals alike.
