Benro Introduces the Auto-Leveling Tripod Theta
Theta is an intelligent, modular travel tripod that can level itself, and it was recently introduced on Kickstarter by tripod manufacturer Benro. This tripod has convenient features that make life easier for photographers, and its modular construction offers greater customization and flexibility than is generally possible with tripod technology.
The Benro Theta’s auto-leveling features, which are powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, are its most prominent and ground-breaking characteristics. The three legs may be automatically extended and retracted with the push of a button, leveling the camera in a matter of seconds. To make small level adjustments, photographers can also use the Theta’s mobile app.
Theta travel tripod provides a ground-breaking answer to the three issues that matter most to photographers: compact, weight, and durability. The Trigonous Central Shaft and Rounded/Thicker Legs, two design elements, provide stability and sturdiness without adding bulk or weight to the tripod.
The central column of the Theta travel tripod has a trigonous design that divides the circular tube’s contour into three equally sized concave sections, producing three inner arcs. The middle column is constructed of 6061-T6 aluminum to further increase its sturdiness. Photographers can rely on the Theta to support their cameras steadily thanks to the trigonous design and material selection.
Theta’s legs now have an anti-slip mechanism, thanks to Benro. Theta’s built-in safety mechanism automatically locks the leg if it slips or is left unlocked, preventing it from sliding further.
Theta’s legs are “sand resistant and easy to clean,” claims the manufacturer. Sand cannot slide into the tube gap between the tripod’s retractable legs thanks to a scraping mechanism, which makes it simpler to keep the tripod clean. The collars on each leg are also made to keep sand and dust out, and they can be easily removed for cleaning without using any tools.
They built an automatic snap-lock mechanism into the Theta’s ball head to speed up and secure camera installation. Press the fast-release plate into the ball head after attaching it to the camera, and it will immediately snap-lock into place.
Another unique feature Benro offers is swappable smart modules that increase the tripod’s usefulness. When not in use, these modules can be removed or left on the Theta and offer clever features.
Battery Module – The Theta travel tripod has a unique design for its separate battery module that allows it to maintain its typical tripod characteristics while yet allowing for integrated motors and gyroscopes.
Photographers can operate their cameras remotely from up to 150 feet away using Theta’s Camera Control Module. With this function, customers may see a live preview from their smartphone and change important camera settings, including shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
Optical Matrix Sensor Module: The optical matrix sensor module is useful for time-lapse photography since it helps with real-time ambient light detection. This module allows it to switch seamlessly from day to night (or vice versa) while keeping the same exposure settings.
The Go Live Module lets you stream live video from a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
Benro launched Theta on Kickstarter, surpassing the initial $50,000 crowdfunding goal. A pledge of $349 or more will get you an early bird Theta tripod scheduled to ship in June 2023, while a $399 pledge will get you a Theta Max in that same time frame.
