Capture One Express will no longer be supported. Customers have received emails informing them of the end of Express and encouraging them to upgrade to the full version of Capture One. Express, according to Capture One, will be discontinued on January 30, 2024. Furthermore, Capture One adds in a separate email that users will no longer be able to access Express from the Capture One website or activate an existing Express key. The firm also states that user photographs and modifications will still be available until January 30, implying that images will no longer be available beyond this date.

The decision to discontinue Express support is attributed to the company’s need to focus on its main products. This is the second time in a year that Capture One has discontinued product support. The company declared in December that it would no longer add new features to its perennially licensed software, instead focusing completely on its subscription solutions. Another recent Capture One discontinuation came in early 2022, when the firm discontinued supplying its brand-specific versions, including Capture One for Sony, Fujifilm, and Nikon.

“Understandably, if you are an Express user this will come as disappointing news. However, we have done our best to ensure that there are options available to you, should you want to stay in the Capture One eco-system — check your inbox over the coming days for an offer that’s unique to you,” the company explains.

Capture One published a “Express Depreciation FAQ” on its website, outlining how users can prepare for Express’s demise. It is crucial to note that users will no longer be able to access Express after January 30, 2024. Photographers will not only be unable to download Express, but they will also require a license key for a current product in order to continue using Capture One at all.
