Cosina Announces Three Nikon Z-Mount and One Fuji X-Mount Prime Lenses
Cosina has announced four new metal barrel Voigtlander lenses, one for Fujifilm X-Mount and three for Nikon Z-mount, plus a new lens adapter. For Nikon, the company has launched the 50mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and 23mm f/1.2. That last lens is also being made available for Fujifilm X-mount.
The three new Nikon Z-mount lenses follow the company’s first lens for Nikon’s mirrorless cameras in the Nokton 35mm f/1.2 that it announced earlier in February. That lens was developed and manufactured in a license agreement with Nikon and supported full electronic communication with a Z-mount camera body.
APO-Lanthar 50mm f/2 Aspherical
The Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 50mm f/2 Aspherical lens for Nikon Z-mount is a full-frame standard prime lens with apochromatic design, which promises to eliminate aberrations and deliver clean, high-resolution images, even when shooting with the lens wide open. The lens is constructed of 10 elements in eight groups and features a 12-bladed aperture diaphragm that supports a range of f/2 through f/16. The lens is manual focus but is supported by the camera’s focus peaking. It also is supported by Nikon’s on-sensor image stabilization and will provide full Exif data.
The manual focus lens also includes a manual aperture ring. The minimum focus distance is 0.45m, resulting in a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.46. The lens has a 52mm filter thread and is 64.3mm long. The relatively compact prime lens weighs 347 g.
APO-Lanthar 35mm f/2 Aspherical
The design of the FX-format Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 35mm f/2 aspherical is similar to the 50mm lens above in that it promises to be extremely high performant. Like the 50mm lens, the 35mm f/2 incorporates an apochromatic design. The lens has 11 elements in 9 groups and includes a 12-bladed aperture diaphragm.
The minimum focus distance is 0.35m, resulting in a max magnification ratio of 1:6.77, which is quite similar to the 50mm prime lens. The lens is also a similar size, although it’s slightly longer at 70.4mm and weighs a bit more at 360 g.
Nokton D23mm f/1.2 Aspherical
This 23mm f/1.2 is designed for smaller Nikon DX-format cameras. The company says that it uses the latest optical system that takes advantage of one double-sided aspherical lens and two anomalous partially dispersed lenses to achieve excellent resolution even wide open, despite its compact size. The NOKTON 23mm f/1.2 Aspherical X-mount is also available for Fujifilm X-mount and supports electronic communication with Fujifilm camera bodies.
The two lenses have different designs corresponding to their respective systems. The Nikon version has classic styling that fits Nikon’s brand history, including a silver ring and a chunkier focus ring. The X version is all black with a more tapered barrel and slimmer focus ring. The two 23mm primes also have their aperture rings in different positions.
Inside, there are 10 lens elements spread across half a dozen groups. Like the two full-frame Z lenses, the aperture diaphragm includes 12 aperture blades. Unlike the other two Nikon Z lenses, the dedicated manual aperture ring is near the lens mount rather than at the end of the lens barrel. The minimum focus distance is 0.18m (0.6′), resulting in a max magnification ratio of 1:4.9.
In addition to the four new lenses, Cosina has also announced the Voigtlander VM-E Close Focus Adapter II. This adapter allows users to mount Voigtlander VM and Zeiss ZM lenses to a full-frame Sony E mount camera. The all-metal, manual lens adapter shortens the minimum focusing distance of the attached lens thanks to an integrated helicoid that offers 4mm of travel. Compared to the original version, the Mark II model weighs 50 g less and includes a grippier texture for improved operability.
No pricing or availability was provided at the time of announcement.
