DZOFilm Unveils the 12-25mm T2.8 Pictor Zoom Cine Lens

DZOfilm has unveiled the Pictor 12-25mm T2.8, a wide-angle, parfocal cinema lens designed for use with Super35 cameras that joins the 14-30mm T2.8, 20-55mm T2.8, and 50-125mm T2.8 to make a four-lens set. DZOFilm touts the lenses as flexible because of their large zoom ranges and because they feature a very close minimum focusing distance.

The Pictor 12-25mm T2.8 has a minimum focusing distance of 0.4 meters at the wide end, allowing for relatively close focusing, particularly given the crop factor of Super35 cameras. The 12-25mm lens comprises 21 elements organized into 15 groups and has an aperture range of T2.8 to T22, thanks to a 16-bladed aperture diaphragm. The lens body is built of aluminum alloy, and the optic weighs 1,600 grams. It has a 270° focus rotation angle and standard M0.8 pitch gears.

The lens, according to DZOFilm, has outstanding control of field curvature and optical distortion, allowing it to produce edge-to-edge sharpness across the zoom range. The business also claims negligible focus breathing for smooth transitions between scenes, shot zooming in or out.
The lens is available in either PL or Canon EF mounts and is interchangeable. Furthermore, the 12-25mm T2.8, like all DZOFilm Pictor lenses, can be modified to E, RF, L, X, or Z mounts using the company’s Octopus adapters. In addition, the DZOFilm Marlin 1.6x extenders can extend the lens’s coverage to full-frame sensors.
