Fredrik Axling: 020

For over a decade, Fredrik Axling dedicated all his free time to creating electronic music. However, around three years ago, something shifted—he grew weary of it. He took time off work and decided to sell his entire studio. In search of a new direction, he purchased a camera and began wandering around the city, capturing photos. Since then, he hasn’t been able to put the camera down.
Initially, he photographed everything in sight, but he soon realized that he was drawn to capturing people. Real people in genuine moments. While he appreciates geographic shapes, reflections, and shadows, he finds that without some element of human presence, his images feel incomplete. He is particularly drawn to capturing troubled souls, expressions of unease, loneliness, nostalgia, and a general sense of melancholy—these are the elements he considers essential for a compelling photograph.
Nowadays, he never leaves the house without his camera. Sometimes, he even takes it along just to throw out the trash. Although he enjoys taking all kinds of photos, street photography remains his favorite genre.
The images included in this publication are from his first three years of exploring photography, and he looks forward to many more years behind the lens.
