Fujifilm Unveils the Instax Wide Evo Hybrid Instant Camera
Fujifilm has unveiled the Instax Wide Evo Hybrid Instant Camera, which merges its Instax instant camera line with its smartphone printers into a single device.
The new camera features the widest lens of any Instax instant camera, measuring an equivalent of 16.67mm. Fujifilm claims to give the option of taking photographs at conventional width or in an even wider mode. The Instax Wide Evo, like the Instax Mini Evo, features 10 lens effects and 10 film effect possibilities for 100 distinct combinations that can be fine-tuned with Degree Control, which allows users to control how much each lens effect is applied to an image.
Wide Evo also includes five other film styles: a cinematic look with black bars across the top and bottom of the image, a classic film strip look, a standard date/time stamp format, a retro contact sheet view, and a vintage collodion process effect.
The camera features a 3.5-inch LCD monitor on the back. According to Fujifilm, the camera can print up to 100 shots per charge and includes a microSD card slot for storing images later.
The new Instax Wide Evo promises to produce high-quality prints directly from the camera, but it can also print from an iOS or Android smartphone via the Instax Wide Evo smartphone app.
Fujifilm has added a new Discover feed to the app. This feed functions as a social networking experience, displaying photographs posted by other Wide Evo users in a photo gallery format.
Along with the new Instax Wide Evo, Fujifilm has introduced a new Brushed Metallics film pack with metallic, dark gradient borders. These are available in a 10-pack and work with all Instax Wide cameras, the Link Wide printer, and the Wide Evo.
The Instax Wide Evo Hybrid Instant Camera will be offered in black and gray finishes (just one type) for $349.95. A black case will be available for an extra $49.99. The Instax Wide Brushed Metallics Instant Film Pack will retail for $24.99 per pack. The new film, camera, and camera case will be available in February.
