Fujifilm Releases an Ultra-Rare Limited Edition Disney X100V Camera
A Disney-themed X100V camera from Fujifilm will be available soon, along with a special wooden box and some extras. The collection is limited to 100 pieces and will only be available in Hong Kong, adding to its uniqueness.
The “Fujifilm X100V Disney and Friends Collection,” as it is officially known, was released to coincide with the 55th anniversary of Fuji Photographic Equipment Company. A part of the proceeds from selling the limited-edition camera will be donated to the Hong Kong Community Chest to support its programs for children and young people. The organization plans to give HK$200,000, or around $25,600.
While the limited edition model is functionally identical to existing X100V cameras thanks to the two companies’ first collaboration, it comes with a special hand-crafted wooden storage box, is covered in a black-and-white Disney-themed wrap, and includes a set of Disney-themed accessories.
A wooden box that “combines craftsmanship with the concept of green environmental protection” is included with the camera and a wooden commemorative engraved card that displays the special certification number.
Additionally, it includes a black leather cover with the “Disney 100” and Fujifilm logos that fit around the bottom of the camera. Similar to the grayscale camera wrap, the broad camera strap that comes with it is likewise gray and features both brand logos. Finally, a metal thumb rest accessory is also included, and it sports the same two logos as the camera and other accessories.
This year, Disney has partnered with two different camera companies, including this one with Fujifilm. In March, Leica revealed a limited-edition Q2 with a distinctive Disney wrap in honor of “100 Years of Wonder.” Leica is known for producing limited-edition runs of cameras, but Fujifilm has it beat this time: Leica made 500 of these special cameras, whereas Fujifilm only created 100 and included many more accessories.
It should be noted that the X100V has already become so well-liked that Fujifilm is having trouble maintaining enough of them in stock. The company had to temporarily halt new camera orders last year due to a backlog of orders that needed to be processed.
The kit is available for pre-order today for HK$14,999 (about $1,920) from only three Fujifilm stores in Hong Kong (The Fujifilm Studio Building, the Broadway – Harbor City Branch, and the Logon – Harbor City Branch) until stocks run out. The company plans on releasing finished collector sets on July 29.
