Fujifilm’s New Firmware Enable Blackmagic Raw on GFX 100/GFX 100S
As it announced it would during its X Summit Prime 2021 event last month, Fujifilm has released updates for its GFX 100 and GFX 100S medium format cameras that brings the ability to record 12-bit Blackmagic RAW video over HDMI when paired with Blackmagic Design’s Video Assist 7”12G HDR and Video Assist 5” 12G HDR monitor/recorders. Besides, the simultaneous output of RAW with Film Simulation / F-Log / Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) to SD card in the camera is also available.
The Blackmagic RAW recording feature is in the same location as ProRes RAW recording under the cameras’ ‘F-Log/HLG/RAW RECORDING’ location in the movie menu. As with ProRes RAW, Blackmagic RAW can be recorded at DCI 4K resolution up to 30 fps. The firmware updates also bring various bug fixes to both camera systems.
