Harman Unveils the Redscale Color Negative Film Red 125
Harman has released Red 125, a new professionally completed redscale 35mm film that continues the company’s long-term color adventure that began with the debut of Phoenix 200 in late 2023.
Harman Technology is situated in Mobberley, Cheshire, United Kingdom, and trades under both the Harman and Ilford names. The company, which grew from Alfred Harman’s initial Ilford company in 1879, makes analog photography products under the names Harman Photo, Ilford Photo, and Kentmere.
According to Giles Branthwaite, Sales & Marketing Director at Harman, the visual effect created when shooting through the back of a color film is known as redscale.
“By doing this, you are exposing your image through the film’s base and the red-sensitive layer first, resulting in stunning images dominated by reds, oranges, and yellows. Our Phoenix emulsion’s high red sensitivity and lack of an anti-halation layer make it an ideal option for turning into a redscale film.”
Harman Red is a medium-speed ISO 125 film finished in DX Coded 36-exposure cassettes with standard C41 processing. The business claims that its red, orange, yellow, and green hues can “transform mundane scenes into dystopian masterpieces”. It accomplishes so while claiming to maintain great contrast, brightness, and grain.
Harman Red 125 is available now from various stores worldwide. More info on Harman’s website.
