Hasselblad Introduces the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P Lens
Hasselblad’s XCD Portable lens series now includes one more lens, the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P, the first standard lens in the company’s P series.
The XCD 75mm f/3.4 P, with a 59mm full-frame equivalent focal length and the brightest maximum aperture in the XCD P series, is ideal for environmental portraiture, street photography, and documentary work.
The lens features ten elements in as many groups, including one aspherical and three ED elements. Hasselblad claims that the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P provides great resolution over the whole image area, even when shot wide open, and is designed to suit the needs of Hasselblad’s 100-megapixel cameras.
The tiny leaf shutter has shutter speeds as fast as 1/2,000s and full flash synchronization at all speeds.
Although imaging performance is crucial, the XCD P series focuses on compact, lightweight lens designs. It measures barely 71 millimeters long and weighs 398 grams. Like previous models, the latest Hasselblad XCD lens has a metal body and Hasselblad’s characteristic H pattern around the focus ring.
In terms of focus, the lens uses a lightweight linear stepping motor for autofocus. Hasselblad engineers used a smaller focusing lens group for the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P to ensure that the compact motor provides quick focus.
“When paired with a Hasselblad X System or V System medium format digital cameras that support PDAF, users will enjoy a smooth, quiet, and flexible focusing experience,” the company states.
The Hasselblad XCD 75mm f/3.4 P is now available for $2,229.
