HEDECO Releases the Lime Two Hot Shoe-Mounted Light Meter
Almost two years after successfully delivering finished Lime One light meters to funders, Nuremberg-based Heberlein Design Company has introduced its successor. The Lime Two retains the original’s low profile and design while improving construction with CNC-milled aluminum body pieces. It also features many threaded mounting points, allowing photographers to put the foot for the shoe attachment on the meter’s left, center, or right side.
HEDECO also claims that there are more options for adapting the Lime Two than the previous iteration, ranging from a simple 2mm shim — which allows “the clearing of bulky rewind knobs” — to specialized adapters for cameras lacking a shoe mount, such as the Hasselblad 500 series, and TLRs using the f/3.5 bay-1 bayonet mount, such as Rolleiflex, Yashica MAT, and others.
In terms of functionality, the Lime Two now includes half stops in addition to the previously accessible full and third stops. Shutter speeds are also available in both the more common 1/60 second-based time scales (1/30, 1/60, 1/125 seconds) and the older 1/50 second-based time scales (think 1/25, 1/50, or 1/100 seconds).
“To increase the speed of operation the parameter resolution can be set individually,” HEDECO adds. “For example shutter speeds can be set quickly in full stop increments while the calculated aperture f-number is readable in more fine-grained third stop increments.”
Unlike the Lime One, HEDECO is not bringing the sequel to Kickstarter and will instead make it accessible on its online store right away. The HEDECO Lime Two is available in two colors — silver and black — for around $140 (depending on the current exchange rate), and 3D-printed adapters are also available separately, but those with their own 3D printers may get those files for free.
