House of Mars Releases Pearla v2 App
The iPhone camera app Pearla v2 has many new features. The developers designed it with serious mobile shooters in mind.
Debuting in April, Pearla aims to enhance the quality of smartphone photographs by providing users with significant control and incorporating an image development pipeline akin to high-end desktop image editing software.
“We’ve listened to our users, and this release reflects our commitment to providing a world-class mobile photography experience tailored to enthusiasts and professionals alike,” says House of Mars, Pearla’s developer.
Pearla v2 has a brand-new user interface that offers enhanced usability, more editing options, more control, and higher image processing and quality. Users can now view real-time previews of their recipes, manually change focus and white balance, and fine-tune their phone’s magnification.
Pearla’s rendering engine now operates in real time, allowing photographers to see their photographs as they compose the frame. The software now employs artificial intelligence to boost image quality on older iPhone devices. Pearla now provides better focus transitions on phones using Portrait Mode. Mobile photographers using the latest iPhone 16 models may now access the new Camera Control button within Pearla.
Color spaces are an important aspect of Pearla. Pearla makes use of raw data recorded by the iPhone’s picture sensor and converted using color rendering profiles. The initial release supported a variety of log profiles, including Sony S-Log3, Arri LogC3, and Blackmagic Design Film Gen 5. Pearla v2 adds a new standard color profile and supports Nikon N-Log for more log shooting possibilities.
There’s also a new film simulation, Niveus, which promises cool colors and excellent contrast. Niveus joins other film emulators that simulate popular film stocks including Portra 400 and 800, Kodak Gold 200, Fujifilm Velvia, and others.
Additional enhancements include more customization options, customizable border options, and improved overall stability and performance.
Pearla version 2 is now available for free download. However, after a three-day free trial, Pearla demands a subscription of $3 each month, $7 every three months, or $15 per year.
