Insta360 and Leica Camera Extended their Collaboration

Insta360 and Leica Camera AG have announced an expansion of their cooperation. The continuous partnership promises to improve imaging performance for Insta360’s AI-powered action cameras and other devices. Some existing Insta360 devices, most recently the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 action camera, use Leica’s image technology.

The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is co-engineered with Leica and incorporates a new Type 1/1.3 image sensor and a wider Leica Summarit lens than its predecessor, equivalent to a 13mm lens on a full-frame camera. The Ace Pro 2 also includes Leica-engineered color profiles, which promise to bring the “Leica look” to high-end action cameras.

While Leica’s collaboration with Insta360 has so far been limited to the Action Pro and One R 1-Inch Edition, Insta360 says creators “can expect more cutting-edge imaging solutions across new product lines soon,” implying that the partnership between Insta360 and Leica will not only continue but expand.

“Insta360 and Leica share a vision of creating the most advanced imaging tools possible,” says Insta360’s Vice President of Marketing, Max Richter. “With this renewed partnership, we are excited to continue our journey together, empowering creators to capture like nothing else out there.”

“For over a century, Leica has stood at the forefront of optical innovation, and our partnership with Insta360 allows us to continue this legacy in the dynamic world of action cameras,” adds Marius Eschweiler, Vice President Business Unit Mobile at Leica Camera AG. “Together, we strive to push the boundaries of imaging excellence, offering creators tools that inspire their creative journeys.”

Neither Insta360 nor Leica provides any additional information about which product lines Leica may be involved in.
