Irix Introduces 15mm f/2.4 and 150mm f/2.8 Sony E-Mount Lenses
Irix has redesigned two of their earlier DSLR lenses to work with Sony E-mount cameras. The company promises these updated versions will maintain exceptional image quality while introducing better design elements, such as a new aperture ring and housing.
According to the company, both lenses feature the Dragonfly finish, distinguished by its sturdy construction — the body is constructed of magnesium aluminum alloy coupled with a “high-quality” composite. According to Irix, the outcome is lenses with great durability and weather resistance while remaining “relatively” light in weight.
“Dust and moisture resistance means that those lenses can be used confidently outdoors, even in harsh weather conditions,” Irix adds.
Both lenses feature a clickable aperture, making them suitable for both photo and video applications. Both lenses have a full connection with the attached camera, although Irix doesn’t mention if they support autofocus. Given the lack of mention of autofocus, it’s safe to assume that feature isn’t present.
Irix 15mm f/2.4
Irix’s new 15mm f/2.4 lens is a full-frame lens built for Sony E-mount cameras with an unusual wide-open aperture. According to the manufacturer, it enables photographers to capture clear photographs in low-light circumstances and is suitable for people who work at night, indoors, or in difficult conditions.
The lens is made up of 15 elements organized into 11 groups, including two aspherical elements and two elements made of low-dispersion glass, which Irix claims reduces optical aberrations like distortion and vignetting and produces high-resolution images with excellent sharpness and color fidelity. The lens also has anti-reflective coatings, which the firm claims successfully reduce flare and flare effects. It also has a focus lock feature.
Most noteworthy, despite its broad field of view, the Irix 15mm f/2.4 accommodates filters via a 95mm thread. The business also guarantees that distortion will not exceed 2%.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro
The 150mm f/2.8 macro lens, according to Irix, is great for photographing insects, plants, jewels, and other small objects. It is made up of 12 elements organized into nine groups, including three low-dispersion lenses that, according to the firm, minimize chromatic aberrations and provide “natural, beautiful colors.”
It also has a special anti-reflective “Neutrino Coating” that Irix claims improves contrast and sharpness by reducing reflections and glare. Irix also mentions the 11-bladed aperture diaphragm, which it claims would produce stunning bokeh.

Both lenses are currently available for pre-order directly from Irix, and the company expects to deliver lenses after June 22. The 15mm f/2.4 is available for $549 while the 150mm f/2.8 Macro is available for $565.
