KamLan Unveils a 55mm f/1.4 Full Frame Lens for Nikon, Canon, and Sony
Chinese Optics manufacturer Kamlan has announced, at CP+ 2022, the details of its first lens designed for full-frame sensors, the new 55mm f/1.4 for Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Canon RF-mount. Kamlan has released a few APS-C mirrorless lenses in the past, including a 32mm f/1.1 lens in February of 2021 and a 50mm f/1.1 lens in June of 2019.
Here are some sample pictures.
The manual focus lens is constructed of eight elements in six groups, uses a 13-blade aperture diaphragm, has an aperture range of f/1.4 through f/16, and has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm. The lens features a 40.5-degree angle of view and weighs 475 grams. The only image of the lens that has been shared is the one above, which shows a manual focus ring as well as an aperture dial. There is no indication if the latter is clicked or declicked.
The lens is set for a March 2022 release, but no pricing information has been made available at this time. For context, KamLan’s second-generation 50mm f/1.1 manual lens for APS-C camera systems retails for $249 while its 28mm f/1.4 and 21mm f/1.8 APS-C lenses retail for $199 and $179, respectively. Given that this new lens is for full-frame cameras, the final price will most likely be higher, but probably not by much as the company has historically targetted an affordable pricing strategy.
