LaCie Unveils the LaCie Mobile Drive and LaCie Mobile Drive Secure
LaCie, a Seagate brand, has introduced two new mobile hard drives, the LaCie Mobile Drive and LaCie Mobile Drive Secure, which offer up to 5TB of portable storage capacity and cross-platform compatibility for PC, Mac, and iPad. The company has always prioritized producing goods with distinctive design elements and superior functionality. This holds in this instance, and the business claims that it continuously strives to produce iconic storage solutions in which form and function converge to create a wholly pleasurable user experience.
According to the manufacturer, the Mobile Drive is made to last and lives up to that lineage. The new hard drive is housed in sturdy, long-lasting aluminum housing. Additionally, LaCie claims that this generation of drives uses post-consumer recycled (PCR) metal and plastic, which makes significant advancements in sustainability. Cardboard from recycled sources also makes up the box’s wrapping.
The drives offer universal out-of-the-box compatibility with PC, Mac, and iPad USB-C and a portable capacity of up to 5TB. Additionally, they have a one-click automated backup, which according to LaCie makes file storing even easier. Even though the drives have a lot of space, their USB-C speed is only 130 MB/s at their fastest. Although that isn’t speedy enough to handle high-resolution video editing, it should be more than fast enough for photographers to back up and access photographs while traveling.
The LaCie Toolkit software for on-demand and scheduled backups, as well as a one-month Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps plan, are included with LaCie Mobile Drives.
LaCie Mobile Drive and Mobile Drive secure vary in that the latter offers additional hardware encryption. In the LaCie Toolkit software, the Mobile Drive Secure features a lock/unlock feature that, according to LaCie, adds an extra layer of data security and privacy for users. Both drives are compatible with USB-C and USB 3.0 computers and tablets and feature USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-C technology.
Both solutions are expected to be available in September. There will be four capacities for the LaCie Mobile Drive: 1TB ($75), 2TB ($100), 4TB ($145), and 6TB ($165). (5TB). Additionally, the Mobile Drive Secure will be priced the same but come in three different configurations: $100 (2TB), $145 (4TB), and $165. (5TB).
