Leica Introduces a Firmware Update that Improves Performance, Handling and Features of CL Cameras
Leica’s target is to meet the needs of their customers and provide the best solutions, so this is why they announced a new firmware update for CL cameras today.
Improvements of Firmware 3.1 – At a glance:
AF / AE lock added to FN menu
The AF and AE lock function allows you to lock your focus or exposure settings separately as you recompose your shot.
Movable zoom position of the magnified live view in manual focus mode
Focus manually and compose the shot at the same time.
Focus Peaking sensitivity added to menu
Two sensitivity modes for focus peaking are now available.
Manual video exposure mode added
Allows you to select and change aperture while filming.
4K video file size limitation lifted
Until now, the 4K video files where limited up to 4GB. This is limitation is lifted.
Touch AF generally on/off for different AF Modes
The touch AF functionality can now generally be either activated or deactivated – regardless of the preferred AF mode (excluding multi-field AF and face detection)
EVF Brightness adjustment added to menu
You can now adjust the brightness of the EVF in 10 steps.
Auto ISO behavior
The new auto ISO has the priority to create a correct exposure.
Menu item WLAN is renamed to Leica FOTOS.
L-Mount lenses can be updated via separate lens update file.
Touch AF generally on/off for different AF Modes
The touch AF functionality can now generally be either activated or deactivated – regardless of the preferred AF mode (excluding multi-field AF and face detection)

AF/AE-Lock
The AF and AE lock function, programmable to a FN button, allows you to lock your focus or exposure settings separately from the shutter button as you compose your shot. This feature is very helpful for different shooting scenarios where focus and exposure need to be carefully controlled.
Manual focus assist
Focus manually and compose the shot at the same time, thanks to the new movable magnification position. Additionally, two different sensitivity modes for focus peaking are now available.
