Leica Unveils the Matte Black Summicron-M 28mm f/2 Limited Edition
Leica has announced a limited-edition matte black version of its Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH lens. Aside from the matte black paint job, the new lens remains mostly unchanged from the original version, which was released back in 2016 and is available in both black and silver colorways. The only physical difference is the lens hood, which is now integrated and can be pulled out when needed.
With its extremely resilient and scratch-resistant coating, the matte black Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. is the perfect lens for reportage photography.
With its inlaid engravings in light green, the lens has been designed to complement the M10-P “Reporter”, but will also make an excellent addition to any other M-Camera. The red alignment dot has also be changed to black to complete the monochromatic look.
Internally, the lens is still constructed of nine elements in six groups, including an aspherical element. Other features include an aperture range of f/2 through f/16, a ten-blade aperture diaphragm, a 70cm minimum focusing distance, and a 46mm front filter thread.
This new version is limited to 450 pieces worldwide.
