Leica’s FOTOS App is Now Free for All
Leica cameras are known to be pricey, and so was Leica FOTOS app with its $50 Premium subscription. But last month, Leica quietly announced in the changelog of the version 2.2.0 update of its app that it was making all ‘FOTOS PRO’ features available for free to all users. FOTOS is the official Leica companion app for Leica cameras, allowing photographers to view photos, transfer images, control cameras remotely, adjust settings, post-process, and share.
Previously, FOTOS was free to download but held most of its premium functionality behind a $50 per year subscription plan. Now, in addition to being able to wirelessly capture, transfer, organize, edit and share images, anyone with FOTOS app can also make full use of the iPad version of the app, use the Adobe Lightroom integration (open the image in Lightroom Mobile’s develop module), transfer Raw images and use live view for video capture — all things previously hidden behind the $50 subscription.
